Chief Technology Officer Technology Fellow, Wells Fargo

Steve Hagerman is the Chief Technology Officer, and a Technology Fellow, for Wells Fargo Technology, one of the world’s largest and most innovative information technology groups who help keep Wells Fargo at the forefront of America’s diversified financial services companies.

As CTO, Steve is responsible for providing solutions that support new and emerging technology platforms allowing lines of business to evolve and grow their product sets. He has defined the banking platform architecture and the engineering & development enablement services to achieve our strategic plan. He is accountable for agile product development transformation and modernizing technology delivery practices. He has accountability to govern the application portfolio and software development across the company.

Prior to assuming the CTO position at the start of 2022, Steve was Group CIO for Consumer Lending; including home lending, auto, credit cards, merchant services, and personal lending.

Steve joined Wells Fargo in 2019, from JPMorgan Chase, where he was Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Managing Director, and head of Home Lending Technology.

Over his more than 17-year career at JPMorgan Chase, Steve held several senior leadership positions in technology, including CTO of Customer Service Operations, CTO of Consumer & Community Banking, and head of Consumer Branch and ATM Infrastructure. Steve was one of JPMorgan Chase’s Distinguished Engineers, recognized for technical excellence in support of Branch & ATM, transaction performance monitoring, and infrastructure development. His expertise encompasses microservice architecture and cloud development.

Prior to joining JP Morgan, Steve held positions at Bank One, Vobix Corp., and Lexis-Nexis. He also served in the United States Marine Corps for five years with specialization in military intelligence and distributed intelligence systems.

Steve is based in Charlotte, N.C, where he lives with his wife and daughter.
