SOA Building Blocks

This stream describes and defines best practices and needs to move into a SOA. It addresses the individual need for banks to identify the right steps towards an SOA. BIAN considers this help as an essential accelerator for the individual banks and thus the industry to adopt the results of the BIAN service definitions much earlier and smoother.

Architecture Management

The mission of the Working Group is to review the final draft of the IVN-paper Architecture Management in order to be ready for publishing.

Time-Frame:
     Start: October 2008
     End: November 2008


Objectives and Scope

- Review of the draft paper Architecture management.
- Redesign and Completion of the existing draft developed by IVN.
- Prepare the paper for publishing.


Deliverables

- Final paper ready for publishing including all major elements of
  Architecture Management in a SOA environment.

Service Repository

The mission to review the final draft of the IVN-paper Service Repository in order to be ready for publishing.

- Description of all the major elements of the service repository and the
  process.

Building Block Structure

The group's mission is to define an overview of all elements like processes, tools, skills required to develop and manage a
SOA successfully, focus on covering the maturity dimension in SOA transition.

Time-Frame:
     Start: October 2008
     End: not determined yet


Objectives and Scope

- Review the existing structure of the Building Blocks, finalize it for internal communication
- Define a version appropriate for external communication
- Analyze each Building Block with regards to the maturity dimension
- Define a model for the maturity dimension and an assessment approach using interviews
  and questionnaires with selected banks and providers to assess and adapt the model
  based on the obtained results
- Interview banks and providers on the maturity dimension to assess current status and
  understanding of maturity in the industry
- Revise and prioritize the BB structure based on the maturity model assessed by banks
  and providers


Deliverables

- Revised Building blocks structure.
- BIAN internal communication of the Building Block structure.
- Version appropriate for external communication.
- Analysis of each Building Block with regards to the maturity dimension.
- Draft-Model for the maturity dimension.
- Defined approach to assess and adapt the draft-model with interviews/questionnaires
   with selected banks and providers.
- Description and Conclusion of results of interviews with banks and Providers.
- Final Maturity Model agreed within BIAN.
- Revised BB structure based on the maturity model assessed by banks and providers.
- Prioritization of the different Building Blocks based on the maturity model.
