Steven C. Van Wyk

Steve Van Wyk (1958) received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Business Administration at the Central University of Iowa in Pella, his birthplace.
After graduation he joined Philips Petroleum (1981-1988) and Pella Windows and Doors (1990-1993) in diverse IT and internal audit functions. At Deloitte & Touche (1993-1996) in Chicago, Van Wyk led a team of consultants engaged in IT assessment and related advisory work. Van Wyk spent 10 years (1996-2006) in diverse IT management functions for the global financial services provider Morgan Stanley in New York. Finally, as Chief Information Officer and Chief Operations Officer of the Retail Division, he was responsible for developing systems, infrastructure and delivering back office operations globally.
Steve Van Wyk started at ING in March 2006 as Chief Information Officer for ING Insurance Americas. In September 2007, Van Wyk became Head of Operations & Information Technology Banking. In this function Van Wyk reports to Eric Boyer de la Giroday. June 2009 Steve Van Wyk also took up the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for ING Group. In this function Van Wyk reports directly to Jan Hommen. Van Wyk is known for his extensive track record in leading and building world-class information technology operations for complex organizations.

Dr. Thomas Mangel

Dr. Thomas Mangel is CIO of Postbank Systems AG and is with Deutsche Postbank AG since 1995. After several responsibilities in Postbank’s former IT-Infrastruktur and –Operations department Thomas Mangel became one of the founding board members of Deutsche Postbank’s overall IT-supplier Postbank Systems AG. In 2009 he was chosen as the chairman of the company.
Postbank Systems delivers all IT-Services for Postbank group including Operations, Projectmanagement, Application-developement and -integration.
Thomas Mangel is responsible for the Development Departement which includes Projectmanagement, Testing- and Qualitymanagement, Portfolio- and Releasemanagement. Postbank systems has a sound track record where the well published successful project of migrating all of Postbank’s corebanking systems to SAP is an outstanding example.
Thomas Mangel has his Dr. rer. nat. in mathematics, living married with two kids near Bonn.

David Vander

Worldwide Sales Excellence Lead
David Vander is the worldwide Sales Excellence Lead for the Enterprise Business within Microsoft Corp based in Redmond.
Vander is responsible for driving and managing Microsoft’s Enterprise sales operations, sales management and growth planning worldwide. Specifically, Vander drives the regular cadence of the business that includes reporting, forecasting, pipeline management and customer satisfaction efforts as well segmentation, quota setting, relationship management and change leadership via the Sales Excellence community worldwide. As part of the worldwide Enterprise Leadership team, Vander also is responsible for the systematic implementation of growth planning, talent development and creating a stepwise improvement in sales capability and quality, ensuring that the full extent of Microsoft’s vision and value proposition is realized by Enterprise customers globally.
Vander has been with Microsoft for over seven years and prior to this role was as the worldwide Managing Director for Banking and Financial Services at Microsoft. Vander’s background is as a strategist within financial services specializing in business transformation around technology, but combines this with a strong focus on strategic execution.
Vander has extensive experience and knowledge on the evolving challenges and opportunities presented to enterprises today and how institutions might prepare themselves for the future.
During his entire career, Vander has continued to educate himself and has four degrees including a Masters Degree in Engineering, a Masters Degree in IT and an MBA. Vander is also a Board Member of the Banking Industry Architecture Network.

Harold Finders was appointed chief executive officer, Financial Systems, in December 2010 and served as division chief executive officer,
Financial Systems, since April 2007. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, Mr. Finders is responsible for business strategy, profitability and growth.
Since joining SunGard in 1996 with the acquisition of NCS Financial Systems, Mr. Finders has held various senior management positions.
Previously, he held senior positions at Digital Equipment Corporation and led the divestment of its private banking software business,
subsequently taking the role of managing director and then selling the business to NCS in 1994. Mr. Finders, who has many years experience in global, multi-cultural business environments, is fluent in English, French, German and Dutch, and holds an MBA from the University of
Lausanne.

As a managing partner of an ICT Consultancy Firm specializing in financial services he has long term experience in the areas of expertise like Strategic Business Planning, Enterprise Architecture, HR development, Innovation.

Johan Smessaert

Head of Retail Change at ING Belgium
Johan Smessaert is Head of Retail Change at ING Belgium, in charge of the IT project portfolio for the Domestic Bank in ING Belgium. With 25 years of experience in Information System development in a complex banking environment, he has built up an extensive knowledge of how SOA evolved over the years. Being in charge of Application Design & Support and the development of Referential Applications at Bank Brussels Lambert, part of ING since 1998, he pioneered with an early in house developed service message bus. Later, in his role of Head of Enterprise Architecture, he coordinated the setup and roll-out of the ING Financial Services Architecture, a full blown application SOA developed at ING at a time when commercial ESBs did not meet the requirements of large financial institutions. More recently, he became head of solution delivery for the Customer Data Management domain of the ING Operations & IT Banking, and finally head of Retail Change of ING Belgium. Johan is ING representative in BIAN (Banking Industry Architecture Network), a non for profit organisation founded by banks (including ING), software vendors and solution providers, seeking to promote SOA in the banking industry as a means to increase interoperability.

Colin has responsibility for defining Microsoft’s vision, solutions, and partner strategy for payments and core banking across the worldwide financial services sector. He has over 20 years of financial services industry experience in the development of banking and payments solutions; ranging from providing industry advisory services, to payments product and technology management roles in Europe and the United States.
Microsoft is a founding member of BIAN. Colin participates in BIAN through the Marketing and Communications working group, and as a member of the Strategy Advisory Board.

David S. Frankel

David Frankel has over 30 years of experience in the software industry as a technical strategist, architect, and programmer. He is recognized as a pioneer and international authority on the subject of model-driven systems. He has published two books and dozens of trade press articles, and has co-authored a number of industry standards, including the upcoming new version of the ISO 20022 core standard.
David works on standards strategy for SAP, and is a member of the company's Technical Strategy group. He focuses on standards for the financial services sector and for model-driven systems. He has been deeply involved in the Banking Industry Architecture Network (BIAN) since its founding. Recently he has been working on semantic interoperability in business networks.
