Architecture Framework and Foundation
The Working Group’s mission is to define a common architecture and methodology, to enable BIAN Working Groups to produce their deliverables on a consistent basis.
Objectives and Scope
- Architecture Framework and Foundation defines the architectural viewpoints, artifacts, and methodology to be used by the other BIAN Working Groups.
- Architecture Framework and Foundation therefore provides all basic elements, artifacts, documents and guidelines to enable Service Definition Working Groups to define consistent and high quality Service Definitions in the scope of the standardization efforts of BIAN.
- The scope specifically excludes reinventing any technical standards.
Deliverables
- A first version of the definition of levels of detail for the major deliverables of BIAN (Service definitions, Service Landscape) as a distinct document.
- A set of templates to be used in the definition of the BIAN deliverables, especially a service definition template, including the levels of detail and a Service Landscape definition template at the levels of Business Area, Business Domain and Business Sub Domain.
- The metamodel for service definitions, which consists of a UML class model of the concepts used to define services (including concepts used to define supporting models such as object models, message models, process models, and so on), a glossary containing the definitions of concepts and terms and a collateral annotations to explain the metamodel.
- A Guideline-compendium including: a How-To-Guide for Service Definition, Quality criteria for Service Definition and Message / Object / Process modeling guidelines.
- A document that positions BIAN with respect to existing architecture frameworks and standards (e.g. Zachman and TOGAF).
